Converting Sunlight to Reliable Electricity!

Solar photovoltaic (PV) technology transforms sunlight into electricity. The term “photovoltaic” comes from “photo” (light) and “voltaic” (electricity), emphasizing the direct conversion process.

Solar photovoltaic (PV) technology transforms sunlight into electricity. The term “photovoltaic” comes from “photo” (light) and “voltaic” (electricity), emphasizing the direct conversion process.

  • A solar PV system uses specialized modules to convert sunlight directly into direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter then converts this DC power into alternating current (AC) electricity, which is distributed through your building’s load center panel to power your appliances and devices. Two electrical meters—one for production and one for utility or net metering—track your solar energy generation and usage, ensuring accurate billing and system performance monitoring.

  • Direct Current (DC): Produced by solar modules, DC electricity has a steady positive and negative output similar to a battery.

Alternating Current (AC): AC electricity, like that from your wall outlet or the utility grid, features alternating outputs. An inverter or converter is used to switch between DC and AC.

Types of Solar PV Systems

Grid-Tied Solar PV (Net-Metered)

The most common system for urban homes and buildings. These systems remain connected to the electrical grid, offering renewable energy alongside the flexibility of utility power.

Battery Back-Up

Ideal for rural areas where the grid may be unreliable. Integrated battery storage can replace a generator by providing essential power during outages.

Off-Grid Solar PV

Perfect for remote cabins or locations without access to the electrical grid. Off-grid systems, paired with a battery bank, supply complete power and energy storage independently.

Benefits from solar energy

Lower Energy Bills

By utilizing solar energy, homeowners can significantly reduce their electricity costs, even in cloudy conditions. With state and federal incentives, switching to solar power becomes an economical and environmentally friendly choice, ensuring long-term savings and energy independence.

Clean Energy

Solar power harnesses renewable energy from the sun, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and minimizing carbon footprints. This eco-friendly energy solution not only helps combat climate change but also provides reliable, cost-effective power for homes and businesses.

Increased Home Value

Homes equipped with solar energy systems are more attractive to buyers due to their energy efficiency and cost-saving benefits. This added value not only makes properties more competitive in the real estate market but also provides homeowners with a substantial return on their investment. In the Pacific Northwest, where sustainable living is highly valued, solar-powered homes stand out as smart and eco-friendly choices.
